我們身處瞬息萬變的時代，適應力強和開放態度變得非常重要。作為社會科學院的學生，我們可以從不同學科學習到各種看世界的角度，也更容易了解到社會的發展趨勢。此外，大部分我在社會科學院遇到的老師都非常敬業樂業，我從他們身上獲益良多。而且，相對彈性的課程設計也讓學生更容易到海外交流。在三年級的第二個學期，我前往荷蘭交流，修讀一些關於歐洲社會、特別是荷蘭文化的科目，這令我發現原來世界可以有許多可能性。海外交流的經驗真的讓我畢生難忘！

我經中大社會科學(大類收生)入學，經過一年的探索，我決定以經濟學為主修，這是因為我想以廣闊的視角來審視社會和人類行為。經濟學理論讓我更理解現實世界。經濟學系提供許多實踐機會，讓學生將課堂上學習到的模型應用到現實中。

在匯豐銀行的半年實習期間，我有幸能接觸高級管理層，學習監管審查。憑藉我在經濟課堂上學到的數據分析技能，我快速有效地完成工作。另外，在太古資源實習期間，我學會了銷售趨勢分析和數據分析。實習確實增強了我的工作知識和軟實力。

Puzzled and dazzled by the overwhelming university and programme choices, I struggled to find one that attracted me most after graduating from high school. Fortunately, Social Science Broad-based programme at CUHK has allowed me to explore different Social Science disciplines before deciding my path. I feel thankful for the professors and senior students who shared their experiences generously during orientation camp, tea gatherings and academic counselling sessions.

The Faculty is keen on introducing extra-curricular exposures to support students’ all-round development. I was invited to be the master of ceremony at the Faculty’s Appreciation Achievement Award Celebration. Although I was not experienced in public speaking, I was greatly supported to sharpen my communication and facilitation skills. The Faculty has also been very helpful in guiding me along the application process for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship. I feel very thankful for their assistance because the prestigious scholarship has provided me with a platform to interact with other talented and socially-minded scholars. Overall, my freshman year has been a great adventure that taught me to be curious and courageous.

大學生活應該怎樣過？這個問題可沒有標準答案。我在中大做了最幸運的事，肯定是上了中大社科的系莊。雖然莊員第二年各散東西到各學系，令我心裡有點不舒服，但看見大家都朝著自己的目標努力，感覺也很好。社科院各系莊舉辦很多不同的活動，當中最令我印象深刻的是一場閃避球比賽。現在回想起來，那只是一場很普通的比賽，但當我和摯友一起時，做甚麼也覺得開心。誰提議­「大學五件事」已無從稽考，只要凡事嘗試，總會有意想不到的驚喜！

我是一位失明同學，瞬眼間已在中大過了一年。回想放榜後的日子，心情相當複雜，興奮之餘，更多的是不安。主要是擔心自己適應不來新環境、不能像其他同學般享受大學生活和跟不上一般同學的進度等。後來我發現，三萬個大學生也可以有三萬種不同的生活方式和學習態度，最要緊的是認識自己和建立自我。

入讀社會科學院的好處，我想也不用多說。當初我選擇社科的一個重要原因是，除了兩個主修外，選主修基本上是沒有特別高的要求，也沒有配額限制。這樣，我可在沒太大壓力下探索自己的興趣，亦有更多時間適應新生活。

After finishing my first year as a Social Science Board-based student, I was particularly interested in the multi-disciplinary subject of Urban Studies as it is a subject adopted social science methodology in exploring the urban realm with the backup knowledge from Architecture, Sociology, Anthropology, Geography and any other subjects that could be related. I felt very grateful in studying at the Urban Studies Programme of the Faculty of Social Science, CUHK, not only because learning process has equipped me the essential ability of critical thinking and active learning, which encouraged me to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge with a full scholarship; but also because the excellent supports, amazing opportunities and incredible resources that I had access to during my study journey. I would encourage you to consider Urban Studies at the Faculty of Social Science if you ever want to explore the knowledge and extend your potential.

The social science broad-based program gave me the opportunity to explore different areas of the faculty. Unlike others, this program offers one more time to wisely choose the major and make sure that it corresponds to one's expectations.

Although I knew that I wanted to major in psychology, I believe that taking courses in communication, economics as well as urban studies in my first year helped broaden my knowledge. I got to understand how all these fields are interconnected and complementary. This made me realise that there are many social variables that I need to take into account in any psychological analysis or study

The social science broad-based program gave me the opportunity to explore different areas of the faculty. Unlike others, this program offers one more time to wisely choose the major and make sure that it corresponds to one's expectations.

Social Science adopts a more humanistic approach towards the society on how we debunk concurrent events happening in the society. I chose the Social Science broad-based admission because I wanted to explore and try out different disciplines. The programme allowed me to understand the foundation and functions of a society from different perspectives. In Year 2, I declared Journalism and Communication as my major because I was fascinated by the mission of journalists which is to uncover social issues and problems. I have joined Dancing Society in CUHK, and participated in events such as joint-U mass dance, annual performance and so on. Last year, I became a committee member in the Dancing Society, also called “Sheung Jong (上庄)”. People in CUHK are friendly and caring. I can pursue my academic study as well as my hobby in CUHK. I felt very blessed to be studying here.

中六時候的我對大學選科沒甚頭緒，只知自己對不少社會現象感興趣，因此我選擇了社會科學大類收生課程。大學給予我很大的自由空間去編排課外活動，讓我有機會去探索新事物。社會科學大類收生課程讓我在第一年全權決定修讀甚麼科目，令我能親身了解不同學科的分別和特點，使我可以在大學第二年選擇到最適合自己的主修科，令我往後三年的大學生活更愉快。

在社會科學大類收生的一年時光，我接觸到不同學科，亦了解到自己的志趣。大學同時提供了許多機會讓我自由選擇並作不同的新嘗試，學習取捨變得非常重要。透過修讀不同學科的課、成為社會科學學生會幹事及參與各種活動，很慶幸我在知識、人際關係和處事上都有不少得著，我的眼界也擴闊了。社會科學大類收生提供足夠空間讓我發掘自己和這個世界，不單令我看得更廣，更讓我看得更深。不同人有不同的大學生活，而我很滿意和珍惜我在大學的時光。

在聯招選科時，我還未認清自己的興趣，一方面鍾情於社會學用於分析社會現象的理論；另一方面希望入讀新聞與傳播學院，以記者的身分了解社會。因而我最終選擇了社會科學大類收生課程。此課程讓我毋需在第一年決定主修，可自由修讀這兩個學科的課程，讓我更了解兩者的分別，認清自己的興趣，使我日後無悔主修社會學。

社會科學大類收生課程的最大優點，是堅持「自由選科」原則。早在中四，我已打算修讀建築；但聯招選科時，仍難免三心兩意。過去一年，我選修了學院內五個學系的課程，從而瞭解到最適合自己的，還是建築。如果當日直接選了建築系，我依然會對其他學系抱著無限憧憬。無論讀建築的日子多艱難，睡得再少，今日的我可以肯定自己選擇正確，能夠自信面對，無怨無悔。

在過去的一年大學生活，我嘗試了很多中學未能體驗的新事物。在未清楚自己興趣的情況下，我選擇了社會科學大類收生，探索不同的社會科學學科。求學問除了要深入，還要夠廣，我在第一年能隨心所欲地嘗試不同的學科，看到的世界比以往更為廣闊。在一番體驗後，我能知道自己的興趣所在。

此外，我還成為了社會科學學生會幹事會的一份子，與不同的人共事能讓我明白自己的不足，和一班莊員一起通宵達旦地開會、辦活動，在我而言這除了是熱血，還是一種浪漫。

我在中六選擇大學課程時，沒有特別的職業志向，不知道該選擇甚麼主修課程。最後，我選擇了社會科學大類收生。這一年間，我透過修讀社會科學院不同主修的課程，讓自己更了解各主修科的內容，並能評估自己適合哪個主修課程。

我也成為了社會科學學生會的幹事會成員。這不但能磨練我與人溝通和分配時間的能力，也使我認識到一班好朋友。
